JSC Russian Railways has announced that freight loading volumes on the rail network stood at 103.4 million tons in October 2016, a figure that indicates a decrease of 3.3 percent, compared to the results of October 2015.
Freight turnover increased compared to October 2015 by 1.8 percent, reaching 202.5 billion ton-kilometers. Freight turnover, with accounts for empty runs, increased by two percent in October 2016, amounting to 259.6 billion ton-kilometers.
According to the latest figures, the loading volumes from January to October 2016 reached 1.015 billion tons, which is 0.8 percent more than the volumes seen during the corresponding period of 2015.
Freight turnover since the beginning of 2016 totaled 1,934.4 billion ton-kilometers, a number reflecting an increase of 1.5 percent. Freight turnover, with account for empty runs, amounted to 2,474.8 billion ton-kilometers, up 1.3 percent.
